The Cage is a home-based recording studio located in Montgomery, AL. The owner and operator is Eric Gwin, an independent recording artist and songwriter who combines almost 30 years of recording studio and performing experience with a well-tuned musician's ear in order to provide the best quality services for the most affordable prices.

Our target market is primarily independent musicians who are not signed by record labels, singer/songwriters who are looking for ways of recording their music, choirs, and other church groups. We focus on our specialization of vocal and acoustic production, but we are also open to full band recordings, electronic music projects, and scoring for films as well.

The studio is located within Eric's home and it is his personal music-making space. At The Cage, you will experience a very family-friendly atmosphere while recording in a comfortable "home-studio" environment within a safe neighborhood. Eric is the primary recordist/ mixer (he hates the term, "engineer"!), so if you are working on an acappella or acoustic project, you have the added benefit of an experienced vocal specialist working on your project with you! The studio is also set up for mobile and location recording, which is handy for bands, choirs, and large groups.

Have you got some old vinyl LPs or cassettes lying around? In addition to recording, mixing, and mastering projects for artists, we also offer professional audio restoration services enabling us to re-master your vinyl and tapes, making them listenable in the digital domain!

As far as our studio business is concerned, we concentrate on the area around Montgomery, Alabama, where we are located, and we strive to meet the needs of our target market, as well as the growing need for recording services among the college and artistic community in Montgomery. However, we are not limited exclusively to the Montgomery area, as we have a full mobile recording set-up and we can use Internet technology (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) to work with artists from just about anywhere.
